At DogMore Academy, we offer comprehensive Day Training programs based out of our facility in Allegan, MI. Day Training allows us to spend dedicated time working with your dog to correct and perfect any obedience or behavioral issues.
Each dog enrolling in a Day Training program at DogMore Academy will work under the direction of our founder and head trainer, Manda Ballard. With a comprehensive educational background in the field of canine behavior – combined with years of experience working with a wide variety of dogs – we are the trusted source in west Michigan for building harmonious relationships between dogs and their owners.
Our Day Training programs have several benefits for our clients. Rather than being confined to the timeframe of an in-home lesson, your dog will spend an entire day with us. This offers us the opportunity to truly analyze your dog’s behavior and take as much time as necessary to implement our training plan. Our Day Training programs can also be completed in a shorter amount of time than our comparable In Home programs, due to the sheer amount of one-on-one time we can provide to your dog.
Each of our Day Training programs include follow-up sessions, either at our facility or in your own home. You will also receive lifetime access to our popular WalkMore Drop-In Clinics for valuable socialization and tune-up sessions.
We offer three types of Day Training programs at DogMore Academy.
The training within each of our programs is customized and tailored around your dog training goals.
In each program, you will drop your dog off with us in the morning. We will work with them during the day, creating a schedule optimized for the training objectives – this ensures that the training will be effective, with regular intervals to ensure your dog is not overworked. When you pick your dog up, we will provide you with a go-home lesson to demonstrate what your dog has learned, and how to maintain this in your home environment.
Follow-up appointments are scheduled after the completion of the program. These take place either at our facility or in your home.
Our Elite Program lasts for six sessions. Two follow-up sessions are included.
The Elite Program will truly bring out the best in your dog. We will build from the fundamentals and teach your dog off-leash commands and full E-collar training, providing you with a dog that has unbeatable control and reliability in a variety of situations.
Our Complete Program lasts for four sessions. One follow-up session is included.
In this program, your dog will learn the fundamentals of obedience and behavior, in addition to an introduction to E-collar training.
Our Manners Program lasts for two sessions. One follow-up session is included.
With our Manners Program, we can lay the foundation for your dog’s obedience and behavior. This program can help to resolve basic behavioral issues and teaches simple concepts such as leash management and the place command.
Our Elite Day Training Program is our most comprehensive program at DogMore Academy. The program offers six day training sessions at our facility, with two follow-ups (either at our facility or in your home).
In this program, your dog will learn to perform a number of impressive off-leash commands reliably and confidently. We will work on the full suite of obedience commands, including sit, down, heel, stay, leave it and come. Your dog will also be E-collar trained, which will offer you phenomenal control and peace of mind when out on walks.
At the outset, we will start by reviewing your dog training goals. We will also discuss any behavioral concerns or undesirable traits which you wish to be resolved. This will allow us to tailor the Elite Program as necessary to ensure our training plan aligns with your overall objectives.
In our early sessions we will build a solid foundation for your dog’s training. This includes leash work, the place command, an introduction to recall, and a controlled play session. From that point, we will build on that foundation with E-collar training, distractions and other challenges which will push your dog’s training above and beyond what you may have imagined.
With each day training session, you will receive a ‘go-home’ lesson which will cover what your dog has learned and how you can maintain these behaviors at home. A tutorial video is provided at the end of your dog’s program – this means you can always go back and watch exactly how your dog was trained.
Your dog will also receive lifetime access to our WalkMore Drop-In Clinics. These sessions are ideal for controlled socialization and behavioral tune-ups.
At the end of the Elite Program, your dog will understand and perform obedience commands without question or hesitation. You will also be able to trust your dog to behave impeccably off-leash and in the vast majority of public settings.

Our Complete Day Training Program is an effective way to improve your dog’s training. This program offers four day training sessions at our facility, with one follow-up session (either at our facility or in your home).
In the Complete Program, your dog will learn the fundamentals which will build a solid foundation for their behavior and obedience. We will also teach an introduction to the E-collar and how to continue focusing on obedience, even when distractions are present.
We will begin by reviewing your dog training goals. We will also discuss any behavioral concerns or undesirable traits which you wish to be resolved. This will allow us to tailor the Complete Program to ensure our training plan aligns with your overall dog training objectives.
With four days of training, we will be able to fully diagnose and work to resolve any behavioral issues. We will structure the days to ensure your dog receives optimal training in short bursts – removing the potential for burnout or tiredness, and increasing the likelihood of effective training.
At the conclusion of each session, you will receive a ‘go-home’ lesson which will cover what your dog has learned during the day. A comprehensive tutorial video is provided at the end of your dog’s program to further ensure you can maintain your dog’s training.
With this program, your dog will also receive lifetime access to our WalkMore Drop-In Clinics. These sessions are ideal for controlled socialization and behavioral tune-ups.
At the end of the Complete Program, your dog will understand a number of obedience commands, be able to cope with distractions, and have been introduced to E-collar training.

In the Manners Program, we will teach your pup the basics which will help to build a solid relationship between you and your dog. This will include leash management skills, controlled play and interaction with other dogs, and an introduction to commands like the recall.
During our initial conversation, we will review your overall dog training goals. We will also discuss any behavioral concerns you may have with your dog. We will provide you with realistic expectations of what we can achieve in a couple of Day Training sessions.
Our sessions are structured to ensure your dog receives optimal training in short bursts – removing the potential for burnout or tiredness, and increasing the likelihood of effective training.
At the conclusion of each session, you will receive a ‘go-home’ lesson which will cover what your dog has learned during the day. A comprehensive tutorial video is provided at the end of your dog’s program to further ensure you can maintain your dog’s training.
With this program, your dog will also receive lifetime access to our WalkMore Drop-In Clinics. These sessions allow you to socialize your dog in a controlled setting, in addition to offering you the opportunity to ask questions and get professional support from an expert dog trainer.
At the end of the Manners Program, you will have confidence in your dog’s behavior, and be comfortable during their interactions with other dogs and people.
Summary of what our Manners Program includes:
Your dog must be up-to-date on Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper vaccinations.
Your dog must be comfortable being crated (i.e. not destructive). When your dog requires a break after a stint of training, they will be kept in one of our crates.
